I will forever remember Nick. He lived up the street from me and the first time I met him he cruised by my 8-10 year old self and popped his skateboard up on two wheels. The year was probably 1994. He liked baseball and he had a Hank Aaron All Star Card. I remember playing Kickball with Nick and he kicked the rubber kick ball over all of the houses for an very obvious automatic homerun. He was an amazing dude that me and all the other kids on the block looked up to. He could skate, play baseball, and kickball.  Years later the age gap grew to the part that it was too weird for him to hang out with the younger kids, but you would still see him and he was always cool when you did.  I remember the police busting him in the woods and it went downhill from there. In my freshman year I came home to ambulances and tons of cops and firemen on the scene. My mom told me tthat he had O.D'd on heroin and was being taken to the hospital. When I was a kid my mom and her sister bought houses in the same neighborhood in St. Peters, MO. My aunt called one day and asked if I wanted to play in the ditches with her kids. I said yes and before I knew it I was up at her house in her backyard where the rainwater had carved 8-10 foot ditches in the fresh soil behind the build. Some were impossibly tall and others were fun to climb down and explore. It was a amazing time during that stage of life where things are so big and life is so full of possibility. We climbed for hours on end and came inside dirtier each time we went out. It was about a few months after playing in the ditches that one of my cousins found a tree fort in the woods. It was simple and awesome all at the same time. It was about 10 foot in the front and 15 foot in the back off the ground. August 31, 1997  I went to a out of town convention with my dad and during the day I was able to attend a Baseball Card show.  I remember in detail the date. While I sat at the Hardees, or Mcdonalds we had for breakfast. The front page of the USA Today that used to be sold by Mcdonalds at the counter read "Princess Diana DEAD". It was pretty shocking because she was such a big star in the 90's.  The hottest card of 97' was a Griffey Jr. 1989 Upper Deck Rookie card. Problem was it was a $100 card. I remember there was a person there with packs of 89' upper deck for $4 and I bought 3 packs.   In my very last pack there it was a Ken Griffey Jr. 1989 Upper Deck Rookie in 10/10 condition for $12.00 

I love Kenny Chesney.      So I was in Boston for work and we had the afternoon off and started with a tour of Fenway Park in Boston, and then moved onto the Boston Commons, and along the way hit about half a dozen bars. I had about 6-8 drinks and my friends wanted to hit up dinner in the nice part of town. My friends had their eyes on some $30 dollar Lobster Rolls that were "to die for..."     Well, that place was freakin' PACK so we went next door and got some $20 lobster rolls. Everything on the menu was like "fish eyes" or might as well have been. I wasn't eating any of that so I got more drinks.     We left and got inside our mini van and I am feeling like I am 10 foot tall and bullet proof I am taking up the entire back row of our mini van with my feet stretched out on each side seat in the middle. When I was about 10 years old baseball cards took a tremendous increase in price from $1-2 a pack to some packs selling for $9.99 retail. They featured high gloss, thicker cardboard, and some of them even included minted bronze coins featuring our favorite players. My parents were far from rich and I could not convince them to buy these cards. As a young kid I didn't want these things I needed these things and I came up with a plan to get them at any cost. My plan wasn't bad at all and it was actually pretty decent on paper. The store was Quik Trip and they had the premium cards I wanted so badly to have. The $5.99 and up packs. One brand was called flair and I forgot what the ones with the coins were called, but those were $9.99 a pack and I wanted those too. My sister took me to the store for a drink and I excuted my plan.
